Angel Wings Massage

Massage therapy is the structured manipulation of soft tissues aimed at promoting normalization and relief.  Its primary goal is to support the body’s natural healing processes and to enhance overall health and well-being.

At the heart of massage therapy is TOUCH, blending science and artistry.  Practitioners master specific techniques and rely on their sense of touch to gauge the right amount of pressure and to identify areas of tension and soft-tissue problems.

Using various methods, massage therapists may apply fixed or moving pressure, hold certain areas, or create movement in the body.  While therapists primarily use their hands, they may also incorporate forearms, elbows, feet, or specialized tools.

BENEFICIAL BODY CHANGES

Enhances Circulation:  Massage increases blood flow, especially in areas with limited circulation or inflammation, which can help alleviate pain associated with poor blood flow.

REDUCED PAIN FROM TRIGGER POINTS

Trigger points are hyper-sensitive areas that can refer pain to other parts of the body.  Techniques like Trigger Point Therapy or Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) help reduce these pain points, including referred pain in the neck and head.

RELIEVES MUSCLE SPASMS AND TENSION

Massage helps release chronically tight muscles and tight tissue bands, promoting muscle balance and improving neck alignment.  Loosening muscles attached to the base of the skull (sub-occipitals) can relieve tension headaches that radiate up the back of the head and cause “vise-like” headaches.

REGULATES HORMONES AND REDUCES STRESS

Massage therapy lowers cortisol (the stress hormone) levels, increases endorphins, and stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, encouraging relaxation. This hormone balance can also improve sleep quality, creating a positive cycle of reduced stress, better sleep, and fewer headaches.

DECREASES MIGRAINE FREQUENCY AND DURATION

Although the exact mechanism is unclear, studies indicate that massage therapy can reduce the frequency and duration of migraines for many sufferers.
